AFSCME stands with the LGBTQ community as an allied agency with PRIDE AT WORK .
WHAT IS PRIDE MONTH? Pride Month is a celebration each June that honors the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, which the Library of Congress calls a “tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.”
WHAT IS PRIDE AT WORK ? Pride At Work is a nonprofit organization that represents LGBTQ union members and their allies. We are an officially recognized constituency group of the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations) that organizes mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBTQ Community to further social and economic justice. From our national office in Washington, DC, we coordinate and support more than 20 Chapters across the country. Pride at Work relies on the support of workers and allies around the country for our important work to make unions better for LGBTQ people and connect the LGBTQ community to the labor movement.
