UMD Employees Should Expect HEAVy Traffic and Congestion
Residence halls move-in for the fall semester is scheduled for Thursday, August 24 through Sunday, August 27. This year we will welcome more than 12,500 students to campus in our residence halls and affiliated apartment communities.
Our new first-year students will be moving into their assigned residence halls on Thursday, August 24th and Friday, August 25th between 9am and 4pm. Returning, upper-division students will be moving in on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th.
Move-In is an exciting time for students and their families, particularly for new students going away from home for the first time. It can also be a hectic time for faculty and staff on campus because of the inevitable increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic. To help minimize the stress incurred by all, we want to offer some suggestions that we think will welcome our new Terps to UMD and help make everyone’s experience as pleasant as possible.
If you will be driving to campus on that Thursday and/or Friday:
In addition to the four main move-in days for residence halls, we will see move-in activity at our public-private partnership communities continue throughout the week. South Campus Commons move-in began this past weekend and The Courtyards residents will move-in beginning on Tuesday.
